Our History

Merchants Moving & Storage has been a local, family-owned moving company in northern Minnesota for many generations. Some of our roots are still visible in the Bemidji community. 

Although Merchants Moving has changed ownership a few times over the years, our focus has remained the same: customer service. This focus, which has been at the core of our company for generations, makes us the best choice for your family’s or business’s move. 

Merchants Moving has grown over the years simply by providing the highest-quality service, guaranteed from the first phone call to the last box unloaded. 

Currently, Merchants Moving moves anything from a local apartment to a job of any volume across the country. We offer full packing services, vehicle transfers, gun safe and piano moves, and anything in between.

Merchants moving & Storage has been a local and long distance moving company based in Bemidji, MN for almost 75 years!

We have the ability to service moves of any size and distance. Over the years, Merchants Moving & Storage has moved a single chair, mid-sized apartments, pianos and gun safes of all size, 3-6 bedroom homes all the way up to a 50,000 square foot office building! Merchants Moving services many local moves as well hundreds of cross country moves. We most recently have partnered with UHAUL and are now able to service moves internationally. Over the last 15 years we have incorporated moving other household items as well such as riding lawn mowers, side by sides, ATV’s along with pull behind campers of all sizes.

My personal promise to each and every customer we have or that is considering a move, is 100% satisfaction from the first phone call down to the last box being unpacked.

We take pride in the fact that we do not spend much on advertising. Most of our business is by word of mouth from 1,000’s of satisfied customers over the years (and we have no plan on changing that!).

Our slogan “Experience you can trust”. There is no other industry where this could be more important. Our movers are constantly trained and improving themselves daily. Much of our crews have been with the company for many years and it shows in their professional work, time and time again.
